Not super surprised they did it because people have been cranking out high number out of smaller boosted full race engines for quite sometime now. Usually they are built for f1 cars and races last about 2 hours. This they built for LeMans so we how to see if squeezing that much power for so long will last. The more horsepower you add, the less it will last as you are pushing its boundaries. Example: top fuel drag cars that have to be rebuilt every pass.
This chart gives you and idea of what it looks like if it where a chart. It some random one off google.  Good old f1 film on boosted engines and their development. Also how does a tiny engine with that much power ONLY rev to 7500? --------------------  @originaldonjosh |
