ORCUTT - Car lovers in Orcutt were given a glimpse at the future of racing here on the central coast.

The central coast Motorsports Association along with Santa Maria Motorsports Park Incorporated showed off two blueprints of their upcoming racing park.

When completed, the 400-plus acre park will house a go-kart track, an arena track, a two and a half mile road course and a quarter mile drag strip.

"California is kind of hurting for the dragger type people, and with this facility can cater to that. That strip will be long enough, with enough shut down area that we will be holding national events," says Santa Maria Motorsports Vice President Stan Johnson.

Organizers hope to have work started on the park by the end of 2011.

The new speedway is not associated with the current Santa Maria Speedway.

yes, i tried to find a site or something but neither of those organizations had one. i think if we put together a list of people all over town who would be interested in this i bet it wouldn't hurt. do some fund raisers or something. i'd be more than happy to donate money for a good track here.

i just hope they dont settle for just a drag strip, it seemed like they said that was where a lot of interest was in another article.

wsir is about 600 acres though so 400 would be a pretty formidable track. shit im getting so excited.

they said that "draggers" had no where to go locally. i dont think they will jst do a 1/4 as santa maria has alot of karting also.

i say if it was still more summer, we do a car show. $10 entry, support the track. do it at some school or something, then donate the monies to the track.

something along those lines.

the best part is, i've always wanted to have a place to drive to within an hour on a saturday night. a place even like adams every few weeks makes a huge difference. gives us something to do.

O the day zach actually does an event with us ill have pigs fly out of my ass! Lol

I'm down to orginize something to raise money for this track to happen. Seth, let me know what they say so I can start brainstorming ideas to raise money for it.
