So im about to boost my single cam, and im just wondering if that would be a good idea or not. I mean they make a whole bolt on kit for them now on cx racing but i dont know if a single cam can handle a turbo. What should i do
Ivan the Terrible
those motor take a turbo well. they put out good numbers, just do it and if you blow it up the long blocks are cheap as
PotatoSparkles
yup, there's a guy on Ratsun building a turbo single cam right meow actually.
krammitthefrog
you heard the man, they are cheap as
EnjukuBG
Theres a guy in chicago with a boosted single cam s14. Makes like 380rwhp, 330rwtq.
s13salimeno
yeah ill probably just slap a turbo on my stock single cam i have in my car now and buy another one a build the internals just incase in blows
Ivan the Terrible
Oh it will blow up real quick if you don't rebuild it, Trust me on this haha it's not fun. Just do it right the first time and save your self down time and money in the long run.
s13salimeno
what if i just run stock boost and i dont dog it?
PotatoSparkles
stock boost on a KA? huh.gif

it's better to be safe than sorry, that's what I live by lol

there's a build thread right here http://zilvia.net/f/chat/330487-my-ka24e-t-build-v2.html i think it's a pretty cool project.
s13salimeno
thanks man that helps out a lot. Im thinking about just buying the whole kit on cx racing. It comes with everything ill need, and if i do end up blowing it up its not like single cams are expensive, its worth a try i guess
Ivan the Terrible
i guess you could do it that way but you could damage the turbo in the process. remember, the motor is old and has been ran hard and parts have been worn down over the years and i know when i say it will end up breaking something. at least do an oem rebuild, ie. headgasket, replace seals and clean internals and you can still run a nice amount of boost and enjoy every bit of it.
s13salimeno
yeah see i would love to do that but its my daily, and i dont want to have to pull the motor out or anything i just wanna slap the turbo on it and go. I dont have another car to drive so it would just have to be a weekend project
PotatoSparkles
or buy another motor like you're going to have to eventually anyways and rebuild it, then put it in when you're done, then rebuild the one that came out of your car and repeat the process everytime something breaks.
Ivan the Terrible
Thats what I meant, that's what I'm doing with my future build
s13salimeno
Yeah i think thats what ill end up doing, and if none of that end up working out i wanna do and rb swap. But ill have to get rich before i can do that
s13salimeno
I did it!!

krammitthefrog
alright man, way to follow through. how does it feel?
s13salimeno
It pulls real hard and spoils loud. It sounds real good too. When i tune it it should be a lot better though
