Ivan, i just got two brushes today, and 2 more are coming tomorrow it says.
i need to break them in a bit before using them on your panel, so bear with me. it wont be done tomorrow. but soon.
heres a tester of 1 new brush...... Xcalibur 00.... so far its been great.

( freehand, kind of wobbly..... but yeah it was just testing the brush out/ breaking it in. you can see on the top section the hairs started to lay better. )

So did you pencil below it then paint over, and going to erase after it dries?
Also where and how much are decent pinstriping brushes, I've always wanted to try, but figured it's one of those things that if you halfass the tool, your best results are still going to be that halfassed.

water soluable pencil. Stablio pencil, wipes off with water
Eastwood.com has the basic starter ones, there about $15-20 each.
Mack series 10 striping brush. Start with that. Get a book and start practicing.
Funny thing I was just thinkng about while staring at ivans finish panel. I drew ivans thing a week or so back. I did the red fender and another buddies car in the last few days and the style us completely different. It's crazy howmy designs have changed in weeks. It's weird when I look at ivans panel it isn't how I would design it today.

so weird how my style is changing over days. now i kind of wish i would have done ivans different. but i like it in its own way.

i dont like the xmas tree on top. it needs to come down with the other line. oh well.....
im going to keep adding/ modifying robbies, see how it turns out. i have ideas

I LOVE that last back window piece. I would love it if next time I out there I could get you to do something similar on my window.

Jan 18 2010, 12:16 AM
just learned, the paint doesnt like to stick to the window when it rains.
some of my back window peice came off in one line haha. so yeah. dont know. im not fucking with it, and maybe some of the rest of it will survive.
if not. just do it again.

not 100% sure but i think seth may have ordered his stuff. i dont think he comes on here too often but ill find out for you.
doh just realized your around the world. different laws may apply. im sure you should be able to get a handle on some decent paint though.

yeah sorry i dont frequent this forum much.
and robbie i guess doesnt either since he asked me like a week ago about this and hasnt posted. haha
hot shot is US based, but im pretty sure that someone in NZ has to offer it online. i would send you some but shipping would probably make it not worth it for you. I was thinking about this question the other day, since the original use for these brushes is "touch up" you can use "auto paint" in them.
but it wont have a gloss, and you will have to only use the base color, as the clear might kill the brush.
but hotshot is a "sign" paint. go to a sign supplier, or sing painter in your area and ask them what they use. they will have an oil based enamel that will probably work for you, but you might have to ad some things to it to make it flow better. the sing guys will probably have some tips for that.
smoothie, is a nice flow enhancer
turpentine also works, but makes the paint dry faster
so id say drop into a sign shop and talk to someone. they might have some suggestions that will work in your area

thread resurrection

Helmets are hard, I kind of just went for it. and the design is a bit woobly, but oh well, work in progress. adding more white/ adding red later.

redoing robertos xmas tree ( no longer a tree ), still work in progress

Fender play time, I really dont know where I was going with this one. just started making lines and seeing where my brain wanted to take it.
I think its great abstract, but as far as cohesive pin striping, meh not so much haha

pornstarSR
Oct 9 2010, 03:11 AM
