Well guys, Ive decided to hit the road and head for South California.

Long beach, to be more specific.

Talked to a couple people local on Zilvia and a few buddies out there as well.

Going to attend LBCC ( LAC ) for the time being, until i can decide what art school i want to try and attend out there.

Ive never actually been to California before, so its going to be quite the change.

I figured theres a good amount of people from Cali in general, so anything you want to share please feel free.

Ie; public transportation, places or people to steer clear of, good places to eat or visit, anything about colleges, etc etc etc

Looking forward to it!

yeah, i saw on zilvia. pretty cool man!

my buddy went to art center and loved the fuck out of it. it has a great reputation and he got a job as soon as he graduated... albeit it is in seattle...

i go to the art institute in sac which has had a couple students move on to big things. also some of them have moved to the l.a. campus and back because of how over crowded everything is there. it's hard to make a big splash.

i guess it's all what you're going to school to study.

if you're going to school for graphic / web design, l.a. is a great place. tons of internships, inspiration, and places to showcase your work. if you're going to do film or photography the odds of standing out from the millions of others there trying to do the same thing it's going to be difficult to stand out and get work. this is why i'm going to film school in sacramento hahaha "easier" to be "good" at shit...

socal is a good introduction to california though. nice way to get they hype out of the way first. if you want a more relaxed "artistic" environment norcal is the shit. and all the cool burglars are in norcal anyway tongue.gif wink.gif

Haha, i hear you dude.

Im actually after an AA in illustration, BA in Scientific illustration, and my MA in Medical Illustration.
I want to get into publishing work in medical journals, magazines, books, etc, on doctors new surgery techniques and discoveries in medicine and the human body. They basically hire me to explain in a visual manner.
Computer design for this is growing, however in this realm you are nothing without traditional style and extreme realism. Shit literally has to be perfect.
and my fascination with human anatomy and art and my niche for drawing has lead me to one hell of a career path as you can see haha.

Also, i would like to design new era prosthetics such as a muscle that can articulate itself like a natural muscle could, vs replacing the limb with a 'fake' and non functional limb. Its sort of looking into the future as that profession is hardly around, but im sure it will be by the time i get my Masters. lol

Ive heard the Art institute is great though!
I really am not the sort of clutter city person that LA employers, i have no desire to live there.
I know LB is packed enough lol

Ivans trying to get me to go to SB lol

Im sure ill be all over the place, maybe ill even move to north california after a couple months here.
All i know is ill be visiting fuckin everyyyywhere when im there haha.

deolio
haha wow you have it pretty figured out. i'd just say talk to a few councilors or someone who is in the field you want to be in and see what they suggest. i literally have no idea where you'd start doing such at thing hahaha but i bet socal would be the best start since they have a billion schools.

sb is definitely nice. if you find something there that could help you reach your goals i'd say do it. it's way more relaxed than l.a... unless you live in isla vista...

but i'd say talking to someone who is where you want to be would be best and just do whatever it takes to get on that path

and you should get another car wink.gif

ps. when are you moving out here?
Lukasss
Its hard considering only 5 schools in the US offer the masters program. sleep.gif

I can go anywhere to get my illustration degree which is good. So itll just have to spin off from there!

ive had this car for about 4 months now, second owner son!
I flew from Fl to North Carolina for it, and im bringing it with me to cali

Also, i will be there August 4th

Car is stupid clean. Couldn't pass it up.
Yes i know, i sold my semi-cool 240 for a stock one lol
deolio
yeeah! didn't know you picked another one up. better keep that one zenki!

august 18-19 is "sonoma summer jam" at infineon which a bunch of burglars are planning on attending. you should come up if you aren't too busy.

damn son only 5 in the country? that's nuts. well just explore ca while you're undergrad i guess since it doesn't really matter where you graduate from as long as your gpa is good haha that's basically what i've been doing. riverside > sb > sac lol
