ok i need a little help i guess im a noob to engine stuff anyway my miata is making this god awful ticing noise, im kinda thinking its the valves(maybe the spring) i dnt have a clue and the odd time it wont tic at all and then sometimes its alot quiter then usual... And dose anyone know were i can find the clips that hold down the rear bumber all mine are snapped except both outer ones so were the finish panel and the rear bumber should meat it all saggy like old tits

Change your oil.

5w- 30 is good and it should stop ticking till the lifters get dirty again.

its your valves getting stuck , flush the motor with some motor flush then run 10w 30 , and it should mostly go away , mine isn't even there during the summer

that motor flush is a waste of money, i'd just change the oil with something halfway decent and no fram filter.

motor flush is atf , helps clear out all the lifters because of how thin it is and the chemicals it has , i ran it with my old oil then flushed it out , put in some 5w30 oil than ran the motor for about 5 minutes and then drained that and fill it with my desired oil

Ok hopefully a oil change is just wat the doctor ordered for the old girl, but lets say the ticing dosent stop, could it be cuz the valve springs have lost there integrity (stiffness), or stuff of that nature were it gets time and money consuming. or will i need to be looking for a new motor, like i said im not the most experienced engine guy so to yu advanced engine peeps that might make you chuckle lol, but yea feell free to school this noob if yu wish. oh yea and i kno the car had a oil change back in december then the car basically sat the whole winter and i was running alot low on oil so i topped up wit some penziol at 10w30 were there quaker state was 5w30 im pretty sure, but tht shouldn't do shit. anyway peace
