Should I trade my V6 Camry wagon for this? I figure I can make it cool without too much work. Or just sell the 7m shit, buy 4ag, and break even and have a simpler motor with no turbo. He says 60k on the motor. looks rebuilt (orange block). I want a cheap daily that i can have fun with. We're meeting up Thursday.

I already am assuming that the 7m is on the way out. Don't Corolla shells go for a shit load for no reason though? If I can sell/part out the 7m to someone, that gives me money for a 4ag.

the problem is i dont think 7m's are that desirable. corolla chassis are somewhat pricey for what they are but you can get a shell with a full gusseted cage for 800 bucks right now, (just as a price reference)

as far as a stock gts goes? you can get one that isnt too pretty for maybe 2-3k. just gotta keep your eyes open.

to me, i wouldnt put another 4ag in a corolla if i had the option to put something else in. its really just not worth the time or money to source the parts. sure you could get a parts car, but if your gonna do that, you would spend the same amount to just get a slightly uglier gts in the first place.

i got an sr5 and changed all that shit over, and i really wish i had just manned up and either waited for a gts, or put a better motor in. that way i could have spent money and time on more fun stuff, because in stock 20 year old form, corollas are really hurting for a lot of attention.

not sure if you only want a corolla for a daily, but i'd rather have either a miata or a civic. civic because you can put a fun engine in with little work. miata because its a good design and fun in stock form, not to mention really plentiful.

i personally like wagons. i think swapped cars can be fine as long as the person buying knows what the heck theyre looking at and possibly getting into. a turbod coupe seems pretty cool, but wagons make great dailies. wagons look all steezy slammed and once your on coils and wheels usually you wont be tempted to do too much more on a fwd wagon, so its not too much of a money pit. i think the swapped coupe can become a money pit really quick, and it might be hard to stay focused on your mr-s if thats what your trying to do. somehow dailies bcome projects when car guys own em...i know my daily sucked up money quick.

I agree with all that. We have a SR-5 with a 20v at the shop, trying to source some parts that are needed for it. He should've kept it carburated to keep costs down or bought a GT-S


I had a Del Sol last year and I work on Civics all day long at work. Boring as fuck. I'd consider a Miata, but I already have my MR-S, which is better than any Miata I'd buy/build. I was looking for a Cressida or E30 or something, but nothing came up. This guy offered a trade, so I guess I'll look over the car very carefully.

Thinking about other swaps, but I guess it all comes down to what I can find cheap. I don't mind the work, or the little extra money.

The wagon was cool for like a week. It got boring real fast. I almost fall asleep driving it home from work. The only way it would be worse is if it was the I4 motor. (though I'd be interested in a 3SGTE swap) I honestly don't need a car this big. It seats 7... I only use one or two seats usually (why my MR-S works out well). I just want something AWD or RWD honestly. I was looking at ST165 or ST185 Celica Alltracs. Only way it'd be cheap is if I bought an Alltrac shell and got a motor myself.

well i say go for it then. straight up trade what do ya have to loose. cool car with a swap already done and no money involved. yeah i fell asleep in my wagon. cooshy seat, auto, cruise, and air, on smooth coils....but my wagon was worth it. it was my parts hauler, bmx, and snowboard machine

i guess what im tryin to say is, any corolla that has a swap like that, and looks like that, is usually janky as fuck.

Also, with a little bit of work (body and some wiring I would assume), I would assume that the 86 would be worth more than what I put into it. Thinking if it runs right and all, I can probably get about 3500.
