hey guys, i have a question for you! its a opinoin thing.. i have a 97 mustang and i cant get much lower than 3-4 inches from factory...lame! anyway whith that said what do you think is a better option for wheels, either 17x11+6 all or 18x9.5 -32 and -50s? and im talkin shelby cobra oldschool wheels, mostly cuz there in my budget! let me know what yall think

I vote either staggered and go for the wider wheels. Mustangs are meant to have meat under there. it would look funny with some smaller wheels stretched.


get the 03+ cobra dish replicas. those are hot tottie. it would look proper if you have an aggressive stance but still retain semi aggressive tire sizes.

i wish you were building the 99+ mustang body style. either way i can't to see how it turns out

thats my thinking on it was i wanted the 11s so i can go wide but 18s so i can get a closer wheel to fender clearance.. my backup plan was to do my old setup and run 18x10s all around and spacer the piss out of them! i was running xxr 521s 18x10 +25 with 35mm spacer and 225/45s.. looked pretty sweet

i remember the swaybar got in the way of super wide wheels up front. rubbed the shit out of the tire at full lock.

that means no pussing out on the offset. if they are in your price range and want some real wheels rpf1's look good on anything. look them up on tirerack for an 03 cobra and youll get the correct sizes.

id say go with the smaller size rim but go wide with meats. you can look good with meat tires and still be flush and have a bit taller sidewall. mustangs still look aggressive with wide tires and meats flush.

Meat flush is cool. Mustangs have flat fenders and flat fenders with flat sidewalls nice and flush is sweet. Plus with smaller wheels you can make it look racecarish with the taller sidewall. Not being able to go low enough can sometimes be made up for with a tall tire.

What's the deal with lowering it anyway? 3-4"? That barely covers the wheel gap. I'm sure someone makes coils for it. A racecor guy probably.

Maximum Motorsports in SLO makes a coilover sleeve kit, but by the time you have all the parts you need (grooved Bilsteins, sleeves w/ springs and associated hardware, additional shock mount if you don't use their panhard bar), the cheapest setup is like 1700 +ship X_X I know they make good stuff but that's pricey considering you're only getting Bilstein HDs and low springrates because of the HDs.

Agent47 makes a complete front double A-arm conversion but that's $$$ haha

no,thats not me.. but i havent seen his setup... ill check him out.. and as for coilovers , the lowest i found is 3in.. but i have an awsome fabricator of a friend!.. and drop spindles are an option, just cost $500, a little out of my price range. the rear is the real issue. im gonna prob notch the frame so the axle dont hit, and space the driveshaft tunnel up a little

and if my math is right i could fit a 245/45/17 on the front w/o much but a flat inner fender lip with the 11s. maybe a little more out back. i was running a 18x10 -10(with a buttload of spacer, 35mm) before,the 11s with that size tire is almost exactly the same.

i may just do that. i just picked up a wrecked 97 v6 stang.. got some frontend work to do.. but im getting my old lowering springs back from the guy who has my old mustang. he said "its too low for his taste"... looser lol!

the guy i sold my old mustang to wants me to raise the car back up. lol! but he took the carpet out and the rear seat, so its a perfect chance for me to see what i have to work with. meaning the driveshaft tunnel, and where the diff may hit, and the shock towers... perfect! and pluss.. i get to drive the piss out of my old baby!!!
