I want to buy coilovers for my Miata soon and I need some help. I want go as low as my driveway will allow me. What's the best bang for my buck? I know good coilovers are not cheap. Stance, BC racing, Tein the list goes on all day. I need something that will last and take the beating of daily driving on Kansas City's crappy roads. I've seen Stance on many Miatas. So I lean towards those. Suggestions anyone?

If your looking for a track coilover to ride with, I'd say go with Stance or Tein Flex. Both go low and ride well.

i agree, im on rokkor (raceland) and they ride better than stock, and im at a little less than 10" ride height center of hub to fender

I'd say go with Stance for the quality.. If you're just trying to go low and you don't care go with what Zach said..

I got some Megan Street Coilovers for super cheap ($400) and I'm fine with them, they go low (which I'm currently maxed) .. But not low enough for my standards, so I'm ordering shorter springs sooner or later.

Goes to show that decent coilovers can be found for good prices.

How do your Megan Streets not go low enough?! Mine was low, and they still had a shitload of lowering to go...

I like them, for the price I got.. Most definitely yeah.. That was with my old wheel setup, I was maxed (with both middle/bottom collar removed all around). But with the new wheel setup, I may not need to order new springs. It's still in the air.

with my rokkor's (raceland) they came with helper springs that i removed, and i have prolly another 1.5-2" of drop left, and could set it on the frame if i wanted. they ride really decent for only being $260. cant beat that price for getting as low as you want.

I've been reading about the Racelands and many people have had problems with them. But everyone of them said when they called about the problem it was replaced. This worries me a little bit. I do love the price though. Leaves more money for wheels and such.

I read them on a BMW forum. It was 50+ pages of complete babble. I'll just safe for Stance. In the mean time I'll cut my springs, blow my struts, and ride on my bump stops.

I'm happy with my bcs I have 12k/10k rates and just ordered the isc top hats to go a bit lower and get some travel back out of the rear suspension. I would recommend them.

Raceland/rokkor are cheap and you get what you pay for. Read any VW forum and you'll find reviews about their quality. Some people have no issues at all while many others have shocks blow prematurely, complain about ride quality, etc. If it were me, I'd go with a quality coilover that has been around long enough to build a solid reputation rather than one that is pretty new and relatively untested, just because it's cheap.

ill bump this back up cause im catching up. if you think about it, bmw and vw reviews of racelands (me owning a vw) wouldnt be a good review of them for miata's, consider the weight difference of a bmw and vw to a miata. i've heard people with mk3's,mk2's and mk1's love racelands, go low and are cheap, theyre also alot lighter than newer vw's. If i still owned my miata i would buy racelands if it were my first set of coilovers, think of it, cheap set, if you wreck em your not down much money, i know flyin miata had a revamped set of vmaxx's for pretty cheap, i had them on order for my miata but then i sold it so i cancelled my order. Just my 2 cents.

Have some pride in your car and get something quality. If it still doesnt meet your standards, modify to taste.

BC Racing + ISC top hats. Full travel with frame resting on floor and room to go lower. Never felt bumpstops again.

I have isc top hats in the rear, did you remove collars or what did you do to go lower? I have my car sitting as low as I can while not compressing the spring and still having all 3 collars.

Go with Stance and you will never be disappointed.

I've just put BC's in my miata and wound them down fully and it so high up still!!! A few people have said that I should get shorter shocks but if I just bought the ISC top hats instead would this still get it to go as low as I want? - wanting it to be as low as possible hah

did you adjust the shock shock mounts as well?

I dont know what you guys are doing wrong. I ground a hole my midpipe on the drive home from swapping top hats. had to raise it in the morning so I could do a autocross.

I have megans with ISC tophats. Rides super nice and low. Bout $1000 total price.

Might as well go with Stance with that kind of number.

i got my DGR track set for 880, feels good and i hit frame before i hit bumpstops..

DGR comes with lifetime waranty i was once told. i have megan streets and they are pretty stiff to most but i think they are perfect

hey guys, i didnt want to waste a new thread for one question, but I would love some feedback.

right now i have d2 coilovers on my 96 miata. im thinking about changing coils in the spring because i dont like how the rear isnt a full coilover like the front. if i want the rear to go lower i have to loosen the spring way down on the threads. my ride just feels like there is a lot of unnecessary weight transfer and body roll. Anyway, i want suspension that is stiff as a brick and and can still be slammed. im talking ass breaking stiff.

can anybody lead me in the direction of stiffest suspension???

Stance should have various spring rate options. Just give them a call

Can't go wrong with Stance or BCRacing's. But there are plenty good reviews on the new Megan's. My friend has the Track-Series, and the new top hat design is very low friendly keeping travel at a nice low height.

But it's up to you. Stance has a well-known name with lots of tests proven that they're one of the best coilover manufacture for most vehicles, so it's safe to go with them.
