from a fellow miata owner, get good coilovers like d2, stance, tein, and some wheels that are close to 0 offset and a hammer and go to town. check out tyrestretch.com also.

don't worry about the scrubbing too much, you'll get used to it

I'm saving my change and hopefully I'll own Stance or Tein soon. I'm thinking about cutting my springs until then.

My miata hit 172.000 miles last night. She celebrated by overheating at eleven pm when it was 23 degrees outside. Then I got a flat tire. My jack doesn't fit under my car and all my tools were at home. Side note:books makes great ramps.
