it was done along with timing belt, water pump, and a number of other bits, but those are all scheduled maintenance items. Head gaskets are not.

You replace head gaskets when they blow.

My guess is a previous owner overheated the motor and blew a head gasket.

What I meant by I'm not sure how I feel about it is that on the one hand it's kinda awesome, that is, the headgasket only has ~25k miles on it.

On the other hand it's not awesome because of why they probably replaced the head gasket, the motor overheated.

But i'm not actually concerned about it, the motor runs like a champ, just having a bit of fun smile.gif
