Mk3f.t.w asked me to do this, so:

Hi. Im A-P from Savonlinna, Finland.
I'm 20 years old.

One day, I was watching pages where, people had linked my pictures (aaperi.kuvat.fi)
"hmmm... Slamburglars... sounds interesting... I wonder which picture?"
I found picture of my friends jetta mk2 w/bags which I've taken.

Well I registered to forum and posted few pics of my old banger:

It's: Vw Type 3 fastback -69 also called Vw 1600TL
It has flat four aircooled engine with 2x 36 solex carbs.

I got it from my grandpa in fall -08.
It was rusty and ugly as h*ll:

It took me about 2 years to finish it:

With steelies (4.5x15 + 145/65 & 6x15 + 185/55):

Interior is original. Only floor matts have been changed to new:

Maybe the main thing which make this to turn heads is, Stance:

Type 3 has similiar torsionbar suspension as beetle.
Front axle is bit different but, this thing can be lowered by turning control arms in splines, like beetles rear end.

Front end setup: 3 spline drop with very short shocks
Rear end setup: 2 spline drop with very short shocks

Wheels are quite a rare stuff
Oz Vega with porsche 5x130 bolt pattern and small offset.
7x15 offset 23 + 165/50
8x15 offset 11 + 195/50 (going to chance to 185/45 or 195/45)

One finnish guy(lives in Åland) found them from swedish auction.
He buy'd and sent them to me.
It was bit to strugle to make them fit but, I made it smile.gif

Week ago, I was in summers first event with type 3 and instantly got asked to make, story to one of finish biggest car magazines blink.gif

For next summer im planning to do:
- Airride with beetles front axle.
- New window/trunk/door seals
- Original front fenders (now it has glassfiber fenders. They don't fit propely)
- Maybe some 45mm bike ITB's along megasquirt
- and lots of other small things.

Here you can find all pics about my rides: http://aaperi.kuvat.fi/kuvat/Cars/Omat/
I have skyline too but, theres nothing to tell about biggrin.gif

Very cool man. How big of a pain is it gonna be to swap the front beams? I know it was a bit of a head ache to put a king pin beam in my bay window. Keep up the good work.

It's not a Notchback. Notchbacks had trunks.

Nice Notch! I love seeing aircooled's representing! What did you do to fit the wheels? I really like the way the car sits, especially out back! I also saw you have dual carbs... did the Euro T3's ever come with fuel injection, or was that a North America thing? My FI is running funny right now, and I need to source out some FI parts (AAR, etc.).

I have a '69 Squareback ('69 is the BEST year for these cars IMO!). I have to get her out and get her tuned so I can run her again... fml unobtainable parts! angry.gif

Thanks everybody cool.gif
Little update to those who don't read The Samba

After Bug Run -11, it was time to go to summers first event.
KalisCruising -11. 150km's from Savonlinna to Kuopio.
When I was driving to kuopio, it rained like hell. Result: about 2000 gallons of water inside.
My car was in No Pokemon Shit row (Bunch of guys who hate cars ruined with glassfiber and love clean and stanced cars)
Everybody liked my car. Guy who shoots and writes finlands main "tuning"-magazine, fell in love with my car in pre-event-meet and took pics immediately. Last week he told that he's gonna make story about it : rolleyes.gif
After event:

Next event was:
Old Timer Run -11
Only 100km's from Savonlinna to Mikkeli.
Once again, everybody loved my car. Everybody wanted to know story behind my car. Everybody kept wondering how in the hell I can drive it (I guess it's low or they are just old laugh.gif )
When I was driving home, half way car just stalled. I tried to find reason but, everything was ok except, there wasn't fuel comming out of fuel pump. I checked pump, it was ok. I guess the engine/carbs/fuel pump were so hot, that gasoline just vaporised (turned to fumes).
We towed 60km's to my home garage. I tried to start it and it was alive.
Maybe it cooled down. I don't know.

Week after stalling it was time to go: No Pokemon Shit Big Meet -11
440km's from Savonlinna to Jämijärvi.
I just thought: F*ck it, if it breaks, it breaks. It took 6,5 hours to get there but it was worth it. Vw made it.
I had longer trip than everybody else. Second came from 400km away(from Iisalmi)
I had oldest and unreliabliest car.
Everybody liked my car and kept wondering how I managed to get there.
Oh, I were only who were sober and I! managed to lock my self out of my car with keys in side of car laugh.gif

Last weekend I were in Mikkeli again. This time:
Bug in Finn -11
Once again good event and bunch of very nice cars.
My early bay and air ride fever won't go down....
My friends bagged mk2 jetta:

This with bit of lowering and nice wheel and I would be pleased

Juha's very nice -66 fasty:

I have driven 5000km after registration, which was in april
