okay, so I'm not exactly close to being able to purchase new lips/barrels for my new wheels, or even having the welds cut to facilitate making them modular once again, but I like to have peace of mind knowing exactly what I'm doing when I am ready to take it on.

okay, with that out of the way, the current wheel specs are 14x6 +6ET. the backspacing comes out to EXACTLY 3.8125" (97mm). With this backspacing, the wheel hits the outer tie-rod, however, with a .250" (6mm) spacer it clears (just BARELY, the clip-on wheel weights hit the outer haha)

so basically, 14x6 0ET (3.5625" backspace, let's just use 3.6" lol) will clear. The original plan was to go with 10" all around, but that comes out to about a -47 offset, which is a little too aggressive, even for me, so I've decided to bite the bullet and go with 9.5" width on the front, with about a -40 offset (and hopefully 14x10 -40 on the rear).

the question is, what more information do I need to order barrels/lips?
just did a ROUGH measurement of the actual width of the inner barrel (ruler to the middle of the weld holding it to the face) and it came out to 4.25".

Also, do you think it would be possible to just cut the welds on the inner barrels and then re-use them? I'm just worried about getting everything as exact as I want it...

well i had have talked with euro image tuning about having my schmidts turned into 3 piece. It is definitely possible. Also, you can turn it into a 2 piece if your on a budget. You can have whatever lip/barrel you dont like machined off, then have the remaining area drilled and tapped. I was quoted around $200 per custom lip/barrel in just about any size/design and around $100 in labor per wheel for the machining and tapping.

It is also possible to have a wheel just widened which is cheaper

Also I was not satisfied with the shop euro image sent my wheels to and I am currently talking to memory fab which can do all the same work. Is there any shop locally that does work like this in Vegas?

yeah widening is probably cheaper, but since my wheels are 3pc welded (looks like I forgot to post that in the original post LOL), I'd rather just have the welds cut haha

I don't believe there is one in Vegas. :/

I'm planning on taking my wheels to Wheelflip (where Yuta Akaishi works).

So I'm looking at around $300/ea for these fuckers... lol I hope a shop here can cut the welds so I can just put them back together stock and order the lips as I can afford them

have you talked to memory fab or rotiform? i know when harry damaged his ssr pretty bad he brought it to rotifrom and they did a good job repairing it. they can make stuff to whatever measurement you want i guess so whatever you measure is good. i know will ordered custom lips for his OZs.

nah I haven't talked to those guys, only Wheelflip, really haha

I might look into them, as well, but only when I get super serious about doing this.

I might do the fronts first, as those only really need new lips, I'm pretty happy about the backspacing as they are. but the rears will need new barrels and lips, so those will be mucho more expensive haha

I'm also not getting polished lips, so that may or may not cut down on the total cost, as well

thanks for the info Kev <3

I suggest talking to MemoryFab. Back when I was going to get my longchamps re-barreled and re-polished, they quoted me $1000 for all four w/lips and what not, and thats fairly cheap for that much work.

You have to call Wheelflip or email them. He probably gets so many notifications on his Facebook page that it's hard to keep track of. I jut had my veilside wheels re-lipped there. Very good work!

^lol wtf

btw, Yuta got back to me today, $1800 for all four to be done with all new barrels and lips.

think I may just get the rears done in -45 and keep the original barrels to save a lil money (only 1/4" difference from what I originally wanted)

Nice, Wheelflip does good work. I can post a pic of my wheels later if you want. damn yeah if its 1/4 inch difference then just spacer correct, thats 6.35mm. So a 7mm spacer.

I actually wanted 1/4" less haha still will poke less than what I have now, fronts will need a slip-on, though, to clear the outer tie-rod (because racecar suspension)
